Laborers’ Local 1156 was chartered in August 1966 and represents 381 active members that span across seven Framingham Units and five other Municipalities. Local 1156 represents retirees, who are active with the Local's initiatives in the plight to protect workers' rights and retirement security.
Local Union 1156 protects workers in the Construction Trades and Public Services Sector and is an affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America-the most progressive, aggressive, and fastest-growing union of construction workers, and one of the most diverse and effective unions representing public service employees. LIUNA members unite through collective bargaining agreements that help union and non-union workers earn family-supporting pay, health benefits, retirement security, career development, and advancement. As Union Laborers, we stand united for an influential voice to gain the respect that workers deserve on important issues in the political arena.

Local 1156 operates in compliance with LIUNA’s Constitution. The constitution is subject to amendment by member-elected delegates attending the International Union General Convention, held every five years. The Union’s programs and agenda are set at the General Convention through the consideration and adoption of resolutions submitted by Convention delegates and by the General Executive Board.
